Esha is a fourth year BIE + math student, who also works at the Industrial Policy Group {hyperlink: https://www.industrialpolicygroup.com/}. Her research interests are urban development, industrial policy, econometric methods, public transport and environmental policy.

Mihir Singh

Mihir is a fourth-year Economics and International Relations student passionate about public policy and development economics. She is intrigued by the application of economic strategies to address international challenges, and is interested in exploring the intersection between theoretical models and political frameworks. At the Exchange, she is excited about using her experience to encourage meaningful discourse and partake in projects that have a positive impact. In her time off, she can be found spending time with her cat or cooking up a storm.

Jaromir Sulja

Jaromir is a third-year International Relations student minoring in Economics, and will be in his first year writing for Exchange. He is excited to conduct research and analysis to make interesting economic ideas more accessible, and looks forward to exploring topics like economic development, global finance, political economy, and labour economics.

Talya is a fourth-year student majoring in International Economics. With a background as a pricing analyst, she is interested in the intricate dynamics that shape market pricing. Her research passions lie in exploring pricing markets within finance and beyond, as well as econometrics and economic history. She looks forward to engaging in discussions about her articles, working will the IONA Team, and welcomes anyone interested in connecting, whether to talk about economics, sports, art, or any other subject!

Sophia is a fourth-year International Economics student and a first-year writer for the IONA Exchange. She aims to blend her academic background in economics with her passion for research and writing to produce informative and engaging articles. With a particular interest in macroeconomics and labor economics, she plans to explore topics such as monetary and fiscal policy, currencies, and broader trends in global markets. Alongside her work with IONA Exchange, she works as a staff reporter for The Ubyssey, where she covers campus news.

Benjamin Hobson

Benjamin is a first year Faculty of Arts student intending to major in Economics. Driven by his lifelong passion for geography, he is passionate about engaging with diverse perspectives and writing about the intersection between economics and geography. He is also a Finance Project Manager for the Vancouver School of Economics Undergraduate Society (VSEUS), another economics community within UBC. Through IONA Exchange, he hopes to introduce unique global perspectives to the journal, broadening our collective understanding of the world.

Anson Chan

Anson is a third-year Bachelor of International Economics student with an interest in international trade and monetary policy. While the fascinating theories and models brought him to study economics, Anson has been curious about how these models apply in real-life situations. At UBC, Anson contributed to research projects on the global value chain, household consumption patterns, and monetary policy (the Governor's Challenge). He also currently serves as the BIE Representative and Partnerships Director at the Vancouver School of Economics Undergraduate Society (VSEUS). Anson is excited to join IONA Exchange this year to research macroeconomic policy!

Melissa is a second-year Bachelor of Arts student pursuing a specialization in Political Science & Economics. Her drive to write articles for the Exchange stems from a passion in the visual arts and storytelling as well as a personal goal to make academic research and scholarly discussion accessible to all. Eager to embark on the role of an exchange author, Melissa is excited to share her curiosity of the dynamic interplay between politics and economics compared across peoples, nations and alliances.
