Wuyang Ren

Editor-in-Chief

Wuyang is a fourth-year Honours Economics student with an interdisciplinary interest in political economy, economic history, and public health. He is particularly interested in using empirical tools to explore how historical policies have contributed to the enduring disparities among communities. He is also fascinated by the intricate relationship between social movements and economic trends throughout the history. As Editor-in-Chief, Wuyang hopes to make the opportunity of engaging in the scholarly discourse more accessible to undergraduate students who share a passion in economics.

Leona Yu

Director of Operations

Leona is a third-year Bachelor of International Economics student with an interest in public policy and environmental economics. This is her third year with the IONA Journal and she is eager for this new chapter. She sees research as the process of finding the answers to important questions about the world and aims to highlight the extraordinary accomplishments of the UBC economics community. In addition, she hopes to share how economics can be connected to different areas of study and is excited to work with an excellent team.

Sarina Chen

Sarina is a third year arts student. She holds an avid interest in political science and commerce. This year, she is ecstatic to hold the positions of marketing leader. She joined Iona Journal to gain invaluable insights on economic research. She hopes to engage more students in scholarly discourse and make economics a fun and accessible topic.


Bhavya Dubey

Hello! I’m Bhavya, a third-year Political Science student at UBC, with plans to major in Economics and minor in Commerce. Alongside my academic interests, I’m passionate about UI/UX design, motion graphics, and social media marketing. I’ve held roles in student organizations where I’ve honed my skills in Figma, video editing, and graphic design, balancing analytical and creative problem-solving. Recently, I’ve been diving deeper into UX/UI design and motion graphics to combine these interests. I’m excited to continue growing in these areas and contribute to projects that bridge creative design with analytical insights.
