The IONA Journal of Economics is an annual publication of top undergraduate research within the field of economics. Founded in 2016, the print Journal has provided visibility to outstanding undergraduate research in our community and served as a launchpad for discussions between economics students and the faculty of the Vancouver School of Economics at UBC.
This publication believes in tracing consequences to their origin(s) and uncovering the trail for public travel. The name IONA refers both to the economics building at UBC and to the monastic community in the Scottish Hebrides. During the early middle ages, the island of Iona was one of the greatest centres of learning in Northern Europe, where invaluable documents were produced and preserved. The Journal celebrates our heritage with the writing of emerging researchers, while coincidentally paying homage to millennia of learning and scholarship.
